Harmonic imaging can potentially provide higher-quality ultrasound images.

Ultrasound Harmonic Imaging is an imaging method that uses the nonlinear principle of sound waves to improve the quality of ultrasound imaging by receiving harmonics reflected by ultrasound.

Ultrasound harmonic imaging is classified according to the imaging objects and can be divided into two types, namely, tissue harmonic imaging and contrast agent harmonic imaging.

Due to the low frequency emitted by the ultrasound probe, the penetration depth of ultrasound is increased; at the same time, the higher the frequency of ultrasound, the shorter its wavelength, and the shorter the wavelength, the smaller the diffraction limit of ultrasound, and the higher its imaging resolution. Therefore, compared with the commonly used fundamental tissue imaging, tissue harmonic imaging has a higher resolution and larger imaging signal-to-noise ratio.
